Stan Collymore says 28-year-old Chelsea man simply isn’t playing well enough right now, suggests he should be sold

Stan Collymore has criticised the recent form of Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling and suggested he should be sold in the future.

Sterling, 28, is one of the high-profile attackers in a Blues side that are struggling.

Graham Potter’s side sit as low as 10th in the Premier League table. They travel to Manchester City tomorrow in the FA Cup third round, too.

There’s the saving grace of a Champions League last-16 tie with Borussia Dortmund next month, but the domestic form has been miles off the pace.

Collymore criticised Sterling

Pundit Stan Collymore hasn’t been impressed by Sterling since he joined Chelsea in the summer from Man City.

In fact, he says the England international may not have a long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

“They also have big decisions to make on some players – Raheem Sterling for example. Do they stick or twist? I don’t think he’s doing anywhere near enough to warrant having a long-term future at Stamford Bridge,” Collymore wrote for Caught Offside.

In our view, Sterling is one of the current Chelsea players that can come good.

The quick forward has scored six goals in 22 Blues appearances across all competitions so far this season, which is perhaps a tad low given his career record. However, he’s still actually the club’s top scorer right now.

He’s come back post-World Cup with a goal against Nottingham Forest and an assist against Bournemouth. Unfortunately, he was forced off very early through injury during Thursday’s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Man City.

Potter recently said there’s “more to come” from Sterling, something we definitely agree with.

The problems in Chelsea’s forward line are well documented because they don’t score enough goals, but Sterling is far from the main issue right now.
