Shaka Hislop suggests that Borussia Dortmund’s star player Jude Bellingham should join Real Madrid.
Bellingham, who’s been linked with Chelsea fairly frequently lately, is a very popular name in the transfer rumour mill.
The 19-year-old Englishman caught the eye with some fantastic individual performances this winter at the World Cup in Qatar.
He moved to Germany in 2020 and has gone from strength to strength in Dortmund colours, too.
Transfer speculation
ESPN reported in November that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly looks at Bellingham as a dream transfer signing at Stamford Bridge.
However, The Sun claimed this week that Real Madrid are confident of winning the race to sign the Dortmund teenager. They think they can beat the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain to get him.
In our view, the rising star is more than good enough to fit into the starting line-up of any of the aforementioned clubs.
There’s often a bias when it comes to English youngsters playing well in the Premier League, but the way Bellingham has gone abroad and become a senior figure at a club like Dortmund is something unique and special.
Bellingham should join Real Madrid
ESPN pundit Hislop, who described Bellingham as an “incredible talent”, thinks the youngster should favour a switch to Spain next to play for Real Madrid.
“I don’t think he can go wrong with either of those two clubs (Liverpool or Real Madrid). I think Jude Bellingham is an incredible talent and is a success wherever he goes,” Hislop told ESPN.
“You look at Real Madrid. You look at who they are. How they are reshaping that midfield [with Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga]… Jude Bellinhgam coming into that midfield to make that the midfield three for the foreseeable future for Real Madrid,I’m not sure you can get much better than that, other than compare to the three they are replacing.
“If I’m Bellingham, that’s where I’m leaning.”
