Ian Wright has claimed on ‘The Kelly and Wrighty show’ that he is already a massive fan of Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues were forced to work extremely hard in January in order to get a deal over the line with Benfica to sign the midfielder.

It took until the final moments of the transfer window for a deal to be reached, with it eventually becoming a club-record deal.

The World Cup winner has already shown in his first two appearances exactly what all the hype is about.

His Man of the Match performance against West Ham was capped off by a sensational assist to provide Joao Felix with his first goal for the club.

Two consecutive impressive displays in the middle of the park are enough to have Chelsea fans quietly excited about their prospects for the rest of the season, especially in the Champions League.

Wright impressed by Fernandez

Wright has also seen the strengths of the Argentina international, saying he can already see the exciting features he is going to bring to Chelsea.

He said: “It’s very exciting, Chelsea at the moment because Enzo Fernandez when you look at his little cameos in the games, and he’s only been there a few minutes, you can already see what he’s going to bring to Chelsea.”

Tomorrow’s game against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League presents the return of the club’s only chance at silverware this year, and easily their biggest two games of the season so far.

Fernandez is going to be a key part of that, and despite his lack of experience in his career, he has a very successful group stage in this very competition already under his belt.

He was superb as Benfica made it through their group with ease, and will be available after he was one of the three new signings selected for the squad.
