Darren Bent ripped into Chelsea with a harsh eight-word assessment after they were beaten against Arsenal this afternoon.

The Blues suffered yet another setback in the Premier League, slipping to a 1-0 home defeat at Stamford Bridge against their London rivals.

Gabriel Magalhaes bundled in a close-range finish from a corner to give Arsenal maximum points, which does see them return to the top of the league table.

As for Chelsea, they are seventh in the division and horribly out of form in league games.

Bent delivered his verdict on Chelsea’s latest performance on social media.

“Chelsea, very poor. Lack cutting edge and ideas,” he wrote on Twitter.

In fairness, Arsenal-supporting Bent is actually spot on with his assessment.

It was a really bad day at the office for Chelsea, who just couldn’t find any sparks in the top end of the pitch to ask questions of the opposition’s defence.

The Blues were defensively resilient for most of the contest, albeit Martin Keown did criticise the defending of the corner which led to Gabriel’s winning goal.

Chelsea have now actually lost five of their last six meetings with Arsenal across all competitions, so one team definitely has the physiological edge right now.

It doesn’t get any easier for Graham Potter’s side looking ahead.

There are games against Manchester City (cup) and Newcastle United (league) next week, which are the final matches before the World Cup.

It would be dreadful if the Blues suffer another couple of defeats before the winter break.
