'Would be a great signing': Pundit says 25-year-old Chelsea star is perfect for Bayern Munich
Dietmar Hamann has claimed he thinks Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen would be a perfect signing for German champions Bayern Munich.
Blues defender Christensen, who’s out of contract this summer at Stamford Bridge, is at the centre of transfer speculation.
The 25-year-old’s been linked with both Bayern and Barcelona, who Fabrizio Romano claims lead the race for his signature this summer. In addition, Sport1 reports there is still a chance the centre-back extends his stay at Chelsea if they meet his demands to double his current salary.
Christensen is a vital player within Thomas Tuchel’s squad that can play any of the centre-half roles in a back three.
The Denmark international is just two games short of 150 Chelsea appearances, but time is running out on him signing a new deal.
Pundit Hamann suggests that German suitors Bayern would be a great fit with the ball-playing defender.
“At Bayern, this ability is almost more important than just defending. [Antonio] Rudiger can certainly do that well, but Christensen is even better at building up the game. He would help Bayern tremendously and would be a great signing overall as a replacement for Niklas Sule,” Hamann said.
Chelsea could regret Christensen exit
If no new deal can be arranged with Christensen, he’s another supreme talent that could turn out to be a big success elsewhere.
The defender’s still not completely the finished article that may have the odd lapse in concentration, but it’s clear how much he’s improved in the last 12 months under the tutelage of his manager Thomas Tuchel.
He’s a colossus on the international stage when representing Denmark. There is a lot of calmness about his defensive work when he’s in the Blues backline, too.
Christensen may be a case where it could be worth matching his demands and putting him in the spotlight to be one of the club’s best players. It says a lot when Bundesliga powerhouses Bayern after chasing you.
