There is no denying that Joao Felix’s return to Chelsea has been anything but a success.
From a financial point of view, it has actually worked out quite well. Chelsea will make a profit from Felix’s sale to Al-Nassr, which will give the club a PSR boost.
However, from a footballing perspective, the forward has been a poor signing.
That will disappoint some associated with Chelsea, including one club legend, who backed Felix to shine at Stamford Bridge last season.

Pat Nevin thought Joao Felix would prove everyone wrong
Felix made little impact at the start of the 2024/25 season, but former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin was convinced that he would turn things around.
While the 25-year-old was able to score on his second debut for Chelsea, netting in a 6-2 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, he did not register another Premier League goal and only managed to make three starts in the English top flight before joining AC Milan on loan.
When Nevin spoke about Felix in October, he said: “I’m a massive fan of Joao Felix. He’s kind of been dismissed a bit by a lot of people but don’t dismiss him.
“He needs to get a better run in the first team, perhaps when they need cover for Cole Palmer. There’s no doubt he’ll prove people wrong.”
But with the Portuguese being shipped out to Milan and now set to move to Saudi Arabia at just 25, Nevin could not have been more wrong.
Benfica were also interested in the player’s signature this summer, but after dilly-dallying, Felix decided to say yes to Al-Nassr and will now link up with the Saudi Pro League side, who currently employ his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Joao Felix not finished with European football despite Saudi Arabia move
Felix could get the chance to prove his doubters wrong in the future. It is unlikely that the former Atletico Madrid star will finish his career in Saudi Arabia.
Felix is set to sign a two-year contract, which is a very short deal. It indicates that he already has his eyes on a return to European football one day.
For now, the Portugal international has to try to revive his career in Saudi Arabia. But with the Saudi Pro League not being the strongest division in football, not many people will be taking notice of him.
