Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei is pushing to join Italian club Genoa on loan this season.

That is according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

We heard from journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter yesterday that Chelsea are considering loan bids from both Genoa and Leicester City for Cesare Casadei.

Now, it sounds like the 20-year-old Blues youngster has his preference.

Di Marzio reports that Cesare Casadei is ‘pushing’ to join Genoa, who are a recently-promoted to Serie A after their success last year in Serie B.

It is understood that Chelsea would prefer to send the young Italian midfielder to Leicester City, though.

We’re intrigued to see where the £12million talent (Guardian) will continue his development this season.

Leicester may be spending the 2023/24 campaign in the Championship, but they’re pre-season favourites for promotion and can give Casadei the experience of a full year in the English game.

Foxes manager Enzo Maresca, who’s a former assistant to Pep Guardiola, is looking to bring an attacking and possession-based style at the King Power Stadium.

It certainly could be a great environment at Leicester for emerging stars to do well this year.

In contrast, Genoa are now back in the Italian top division after just one year away, playing against a higher standard of opponent on a weekly basis.

Ultimately, Chelsea’s focus should be on where Casadei will get the best schooling and best chance of regular action.
