Chelsea were reportedly turned down by one defender during the summer transfer window, and he could now join one of their Premier League rivals instead.
Chelsea were extremely busy in the transfer market, really focusing on strengthening their attack.
The Blues signed Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix, Pedro Neto and Marc Guiu and also tried to bring in Victor Osimhen.
After failing to land him on deadline day, Chelsea could revive their interest in Osimhen in the January transfer window. The club also strengthened their backline, recruiting Tosin Adarabioyo, Renato Veiga and goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. They did not, however, sign Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu despite looking at him.

Patrick Dorgu did not want to join Chelsea
Last year, Dorgu admitted that Chelsea were his favourite club. Even so, it has now been claimed that he actually turned down the opportunity to join them during the summer window.
According to HITC, Dorgu rejected Chelsea, not wanting to be loaned out to their sister club Strasbourg.
Dorgu could now become a target for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, with HITC also reporting that the Red Devils have made a check on the left-back.
In July, Calcio Lecce claimed that Lecce valued their defender at €30m (£25.3m) amid interest from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea do not need Patrick Dorgu
Chelsea’s first-choice left-back right now is Marc Cucurella, who is being supported by Veiga.
The Blues signed Veiga from Basel for £12m, which now looks like a bargain. When the 21-year-old has replaced Cucurella, he has impressed.
There was one bit of play against Wolverhampton Wanderers where he was surrounded but got out of the situation with a terrific bit of skill.
Capable of playing in midfield, it is not a complete shock that Veiga possesses some technical skill.
Ultimately, with Enzo Maresca possessing the Portuguese, Chelsea fans will not be crying about the club not signing Dorgu, who could now end up joining one of their rivals instead.
