Romelu Lukaku is now going to ignore Mauricio Pochettino’s request for him to return to Chelsea for pre-season training.

That is according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

So, what is the latest on Romelu Lukaku? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet paid reference to Pochettino’s comments made in his first press conference at Chelsea.

When asked about Lukaku, the Argentine said: “He needs to come back on the 12th or 13th (of July) to be part of the squad and start pre-season.

“When the player arrives the first thing they are doing is to come to my office to see me and say hello. That is what I expect if he is still a Chelsea player.”

Now – however – Lukaku is set to ignore Pochettino’s request.

Gazzetta dello Sport confidently state that this “will not happen” and the Belgian is planning to avoid London until Chelsea and Inter Milan can agree a fee.

Talks are ongoing between the Blues and the Italian giants, although an agreement is yet to be found.

Inter Milan know exactly what they need to do if they want to sign Lukaku.

The Daily Mail believe Chelsea have placed a £40m price tag on the 30-year-old’s head this summer.

However, Inter Milan have only offered £23m as things stand, so those at the San Siro know that another £17m is needed until a deal can be struck.

It is important for Chelsea to offload Lukaku as soon as possible given his strong desire to leave, although it is also important for the Blues to not be pushed around in the market.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Lukaku refuses to come back to west London for training.
