Chelsea could be about to receive a boost in their bid to sign one player this summer.
The Blues are considering making a move for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, according to The Guardian.
Tottenham Hotspur are also thought to be interested in Williams, and a report from GiveMeSport has claimed that the north London club have been given confidence that the 21-year-old is open to a Premier League switch.
It is good news for Chelsea as they weigh up a move for Williams, who has a £43m release clause in his contract.
Journalist Nicolo Schira has claimed that the Blues are the club who are in pole position to land the Athletic star.

Nico Williams open to Premier League move amid Chelsea interest
Chelsea may not be able to offer Williams European football next season, with Mauricio Pochettino‘s side currently sitting in the bottom half of the table.
However, the chance to play in the best league in the world may be enough to convince Williams to leave Athletic for Chelsea.
Of course, it is a card that Tottenham can also play, while Ange Postecoglou’s men could actually be in the Champions League next term.
Spurs, then, could make life extremely difficult for Chelsea. With the Blues no longer competing at the summit of English football and in Europe, it may take the offer of a higher salary for them to beat their London rivals to the Spain international’s signature.
It has been reported that Chelsea view Williams as the perfect replacement for Raheem Sterling. The 29-year-old is currently being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Chelsea have both Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk for the left wing, but amid interest in Williams, there looks like there could be a bit of a shake-up in that area this summer — perhaps one in, one out, with Williams joining the team ahead of next season.
