Chelsea face missing out on Brentford striker Ivan Toney to Arsenal.

Chelsea appear to be in the market for a new centre-forward, with TEAMtalk reporting that the Blues are seriously considering making a bid for Ivan Toney.

However, according to the same outlet, the 27-year-old would rather join Arsenal than their London rivals, while it could take at least £70m to get him out of Brentford.

Toney has not kicked a ball this season because of a ban, but he was on fire last term.

In 33 Premier League games, the England international managed to score 20 goals, explaining why Brentford value him so highly.

Chelsea seriously considering Ivan Toney

Nicolas Jackson has not done a terrible job at Stamford Bridge, especially of late.

In total, he has scored seven goals in 16 top-flight outings. He should easily reach double figures, which would be impressive for a 22-year-old who has just arrived in England.

With that being said, Mauricio Pochettino could still probably just do with a more experienced and proven striker.

Chelsea want to qualify for the Champions League and eventually start competing for the Premier League title again. Is Jackson enough for that? Probably not, though perhaps one day he will be.

It is one reason why Chelsea are considering the likes of Toney and Victor Osimhen, who is also being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. But can they pull signing one of those names off?

Both deals look extremely difficult, with Toney seemingly preferring Arsenal over Chelsea, while Osimhen is going to cost a fortune. But how often do the Blues get their way in the transfer window? Often, so you would not rule out either striker just yet.

Chelsea are going to sign a new centre-forward in 2024, it is just a question of whom.
