AC Milan are now set to receive money from the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle – and plan to spend some of the cash on signing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea.

That is according to Calciomercato.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea and Christian Pulisic? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet explain how AC Milan have been talking to the United States international for weeks now, although finances have been too tight for them to meet his €4m-a-year (£3.4m) salary demands.

However, AC Milan’s imminent €75m (£65m) sale of Tonali to Newcastle – a player who was also said to be a target for Chelsea – is expected to free up the cash needed to sign Pulisic.

There is also said to be interest from AC Milan in Carney Chukwuemeka.

The Italian giants have asked to be kept informed about the England Under-21 international’s situation, with Chelsea yet to make a decision on his future.

In regards to Pulisic – who was recently described as “electric” by US media after scoring twice against Mexico – Chelsea are only said to be asking for £20m as they look to offload the American.

Chelsea spent a whopping £58m to sign the 24-year-old from Borussia Dortmund in January 2019.

In total, Pulisic has scored just 26 goals in 145 appearances for the Blues.

Pulisic update is great news for Chelsea

In our view, those on the recruitment team at Stamford Bridge will surely be pleased to hear that AC Milan plan to spend the Tonali money on Pulisic.

The Daily Mail recently stated that Chelsea are struggling to offload the man known as Captain America due to his salary demands.

However, AC Milan now look set to help the Blues out in that respect, by investing their Tonali money in a move for Pulisic.

It provides even more good news for Chelsea are far as outgoings are concerned.

The Blues have been busy offloading deadwood this week, with exits for Kai Havertz, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech and Mateo Kovacic either completed or close to completion.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea are expected to make even more sales.
