Chelsea could now rip up the contract of Callum Hudson-Odoi after terminating Baba Rahman’s deal on Monday.

That is according to London World.

So, what is the latest on Callum Hudson-Odoi? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the England international is up for sale at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest interested in his services.

Now – according to London World – Chelsea could help their academy graduate find a new club by terminating his contract, which would make him a free agent.

As aforesaid, Chelsea did the same with Rahman on Monday, as the Ghana international saw his £85,962-a-week contract ended 12 months early.

The article states that Chelsea are set to ask Hudson-Odoi whether he is willing to halve his £120,000-a-week wages, before the Blues will then pay him the remainder of his salary and let him leave for nothing if he agrees.

London World state that Chelsea did this with Tiemoue Bakayoko earlier in the summer transfer window.

It is said that discussions about Hudson-Odoi are ongoing amongst those at Cobham, as Mauricio Pochettino plans to continue his clear-out of deadwood at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea should not terminate Hudson-Odoi’s contract

In our view, Chelsea should not let Hudson-Odoi leave for free.

The Wandsworth-born winger is still just 22 years of age, and he is exactly the type of player who Pochettino could develop into a star.

Even if the Argentine decides that he doesn’t want Hudson-Odoi in his plans for the 2023/24 campaign, he is still a valuable asset who could fetch a £10m fee for the Blues.

In addition to Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, Maurizio Sarri is eyeing Hudson-Odoi at Lazio, according to Corriere dello Sport, while Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports believes West Ham have enquired.

Clearly, there is a market for Hudson-Odoi, so Chelsea should stick to their reasonable £10m asking price rather than let him leave for free.
