Chelsea have agreed their first major sale of the summer window: left-back Marc Cucurella, who will join Real Madrid after the World Cup. Now, Tottenham want to raid Chelsea.

Cucurella has agreed a six-year contract at Real Madrid, and the Blues have agreed a total package of £51.8m for the Spanish defender. Madrid will pay an initial £47.5m for Cucurella, and £4.3m in add-ons.

Marc Cucurella is set to join Real Madrid! What’s a fair price? 💸

Mourinho raids Chelsea!

It sees Chelsea rake in their first big amount of cash this summer, with more sales expected after the Blues failed to qualify for Europe. Indeed, it is expected Chelsea will sell first before making any purchases.

A new left-back will be required, but others are set to leave the club, and Liam Delap is likely to follow Cucurella out of the Chelsea exit door in the next few weeks. Ben Jacobs now has an update on Delap.

Tottenham want to sign Liam Delap during the summer window

Delap managed just one goal in the Premier League for Chelsea following his £30m move from Ipswich. It is claimed that Delap wants to remain at Chelsea and fight for his place, but clubs are showing interest.

Clearly, Chelsea are open to a sale this summer, and if they can get anything close to the fee they spent to sign Delap from Ipswich, it is easy to imagine Delap leaving the London club after just one season.

Ben Jacobs has told the Last Word on Spurs podcast that three clubs are interested in Delap currently, with Newcastle and Everton rivalling Tottenham for Delap. Jacobs says the ball is in Chelsea’s court.

“Liam Delap could be one to watch from Chelsea. Another club that Tottenham wouldn’t normally do too much business with. Newcastle, Everton and Tottenham are the three clubs that like Delap,” Jacobs said.

“Before we clarify if anything is going to develop, Delap wants to stay and fight for his place. He wants to understand where he stands in the pecking order, with Joao Pedro first choice under Xabi Alonso.

“Is it going to be Delap? Is it going to be Nico Jackson who is coming back after a loan spell at Bayern? I think unlikely, but Jackson wants pre-season [at Chelsea] to see if he can change the manager’s mind.

“Then you have Emegha, who is coming from Strasbourg too. Another player wondering where he will be in the pecking order. Once that falls into place, if Delap is available, Newcastle, Everton, Tottenham.”

How much do Chelsea want for Liam Delap this summer?

Delap wants to see where he stands at Chelsea, and despite all the criticism, there is no doubt that the striker is a fighter. He wants to stick it out with Chelsea if he can, but clearly, he will leave if he needs to.

Realistically, how much is Liam Delap worth?🤔

Reports say Chelsea want £40m for Delap if they are going to sell him. That would see Chelsea make an immediate £10m profit on the striker, despite his dismal form during his first 12 months at Chelsea.

If Chelsea received a £40m bid for Delap then they should absolutely take it, and Delap should go. He is in a crucial period of his career in which he needs to be playing games and playing back-up doesn’t help.
