Romelu Lukaku is now ready to follow Mason Mount out of Chelsea despite reports claiming that Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep him.
It was Gazzetta dello Sport who claimed that the Argentine plans to build his Chelsea side around the Belgium international when he returns from Inter Milan.
Now – however – Mauricio Pochettino may not get the chance to work with Romelu Lukaku.
What’s the story?
Well – according to Fabrizio Romano – the Belgian wants to stay at Inter Milan for good.
The reliable Italian journalist said on his YouTube channel: “Nothing will happen until the Champions League final. Everything between Inter and Chelsea will be discussed after the Champions League final.
“From what I understand, Lukaku’s priority is to stay at Inter. Inter are optimistic about keeping Lukaku, but they know they have to find the right formula when speaking with Chelsea.”

It comes after Mason Mount also edged closer to leaving Stamford Bridge as Chelsea’s summer clear out begins, with the Telegraph claiming that the England international has agreed personal terms with Manchester United.
Simon Phillips claimed on Substack that Pochettino was also hoping to work with the 24-year-old.
Therefore, the fact both Mount and Lukaku look set to depart Stamford Bridge could be described as a setback for the South American.
Chelsea need to offload Lukaku
While reports have claimed that Pochettino wants to keep Lukaku, we feel it is for the best that he leaves Chelsea.
The Antwerp-born striker earns an incredible £350,000-a-week from the Blues, and with Chelsea in need of sales to ease Financial Fair Play restrictions, Todd Boehly could do with offloading him.
Furthermore, Lukaku is 30 years of age, so he doesn’t represent the future at Stamford Bridge in comparison to someone like Armando Broja, for example.
Therefore, we feel it would be best for Chelsea and Lukaku to go their separate ways – be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as Inter Milan still need to find an agreement with the Blues.
