Brighton now appear to have found an alternative to Chelsea prodigy Levi Colwill after reaching an agreement with Fiorentina defender Igor.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
So, what is the latest on Chelsea and Brighton amid discussions over Levi Colwill and Moises Caicedo? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to talkSPORT – the Seagulls failed with a £40m bid for Colwill earlier this summer, as Chelsea adopt a firm hands off warning.
The England Under-21 international shone on loan at Brighton last season, helping Roberto De Zerbi’s side qualify for the UEFA Europa League after making 17 Premier League appearances.
Understandably, Brighton want Colwill back, but it seems the Seagulls are now getting the message from Chelsea that he truly is not for sale this summer.

Now – according to Romano – Brighton have reached an agreement to sign Igor from Fiorentina, a similar player to Colwill in the respect that both operate as left-sided central defenders, and are left-footed.
In that respect, the Brazilian would certainly seem like an alternative to the Chelsea academy graduate for De Zerbi, rather than someone the Italian hopes to sign in addition to the Englishman.
Chelsea could get one over on Brighton
As things stand, Brighton have bragging rights over Chelsea.
The Seagulls somehow managed to get £60m from the Blues for Marc Cucurella, £21m for Graham Potter, and then finished six places above Chelsea.
Now – however – if Chelsea can find a way to keep Colwill at Stamford Bridge, and also pinch Caicedo from Brighton, it would swing things in favour of the Blues.

The Evening Standard believe Chelsea are going to make an improved bid for the Ecuador international this week worth over £70m, and the Brighton No.25 himself is very keen for the move to happen.
Therefore, as Brighton turn their attention to Igor, Chelsea look set to get their own way.
