Chelsea are still trying to sign Moises Caicedo as Todd Boehly attempts to provide Mauricio Pochettino with a competitive squad.

The Brighton No.25 is a priority target for the Blues, although negotiations with the Seagulls are currently proving difficult – the Telegraph believe they now want over £100m after seeing Declan Rice move to Arsenal for £105m.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea‘s pursuit of Moises Caicedo? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to the Evening Standard – Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, Chelsea’s Sporting Directors, remain in regular contact with Brighton, having spoken to the Seagulls for several weeks now.

Winstanley and Stewart then feed back what they have heard from Brighton to Pochettino, which suggests the Argentine is keen to know all about this deal and the details behind it.

The Evening Standard add that Chelsea are set to send an improved offer for Caicedo to the Amex Stadium this week, which is expected to be worth a guaranteed £70m plus add-ons.

Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with the Ecuador international, who views a switch to Stamford Bridge as a dream move.

The Evening Standard believe Caicedo – who Graham Potter called “fantastic” as quoted by The Argus – is hoping that Brighton accept Chelsea’s next bid, as he aims to leave the Amex Stadium this summer.

Caicedo pursuit may drag on for Chelsea

In our view, this transfer saga is not going to end anytime soon.

The Evening Standard add that there is concern amongst the recruitment team at Chelsea that the next bid for Caicedo will also be rejected.

That is because Brighton rejected a similar offer worth £70m from Arsenal back in January, so if Chelsea’s next bid is turned down, the Blues may need to push the total close to £100m.

By the sounds of it, this is not going to be an easy deal for Chelsea to complete.

Nevertheless, Caicedo is keen for it to happen, which means anything is possible this summer – be sure to keep an eye out for more developments.
