Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has said they will allow reported Chelsea target Nicolas Tagliafico to leave the club this summer.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano made a claim earlier this month saying Tagliafico is on Chelsea’s list as an option if they fail to land Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell.
The Argentina international has had five goals and five assists in all competitions this season, and just like Chelsea’s imminent signing Hakim Ziyech, he played a part in Ajax’s recent success both in Europe and domestic.
It looks like the Blues will not have a hard time negotiating with Ajax, should they step up their interest in the fullback.
Ajax’s director of football Overmars has openly talked about allowing the defender to leave this summer.

He told Ajax TV: “Nico is 28 years old (he will turn 28 in August) and so I understand that he wants to take a nice step.
“Then you want to think about it. If that opportunity is there, then you should not deprive him of that opportunity.
“But only if all conditions are good for both parties. We just have to make sure we have good replacements.”

This would also be good news for Chelsea’s pursuit of Chilwell.
According to a report from French outlet Le10 Sport, Leicester consider Tagliafico as a potential replacement for the England international.
The report also claimed Ajax would want around €25million (£22.6m) for Tagliafico.
