Chelsea may not need to worry about Arsenal in the race for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
TEAMtalk recently claimed that Arsenal have joined their London rivals Chelsea in the battle for Victor Osimhen‘s signature.
However, journalist Dean Jones recently suggested to GiveMeSport that the Gunners may not be able to find the money to sign the 24-year-old.
Osimhen remains a key target for Chelsea and is a player who the Blues could try to sign when the transfer window reopens in January.
He has made 10 appearances in Serie A this season, scoring six goals along the way.
Victor Osimhen may prove to be too expensive for Arsenal
Jones has doubts about Arsenal’s ability to go out and spend £120m on Osimhen in January.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “As far as I understand, Arsenal haven’t yet decided that they are definitely going to sign a striker of this type in January. If they are, I’m not sure where they’re going to get their money from.
“Spending as much as they did in the summer on Declan Rice was a big push for them. The thought process at the time was that they would go through all of their business right now and get David Raya through the door, but only on an initial loan to help them through and then sign him permanently next summer.
“That gives you all the signs that Arsenal are not going to have the clout to go and throw £120million at a striker in January.”

Can Chelsea afford Victor Osimhen?
Their recent spending suggests so. It shows that Chelsea’s new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have money, it is just about not getting into FFP trouble.
If that does not prove to be a problem, then the Blues should be able to meet Napoli’s asking price for the Nigerian and blow Arsenal out of the water.
Arsenal will probably be able to give Osimhen something Chelsea are unlikely to have next season, Champions League football.
That would give the Gunners a chance to land him. But if it does come down to money, you can only really see one winner here.
Whatever the case, it is easy to see why both Premier League clubs would want Osimhen. His goalscoring record at Napoli is quite good.
If Arsenal want to win the title and Chelsea want to get back into the Champions League, then they both probably need a striker like him. This looks like it could be a very complicated transfer, though, and one that may not be able to be concluded in January.
