Arsenal’s stance on loaning out Chelsea target Aaron Ramsdale in January

Chelsea and other Premier League clubs could soon have the opportunity to potentially sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on loan.

According to TEAMtalk, while Arsenal would prefer to sell Aaron Ramsdale permanently if the 25-year-old does decide he wants out, a short-term loan deal before a final decision on his future is made next summer is not out of the question.

Chelsea recently signed a new goalkeeper in Robert Sanchez, but that has not stopped the Blues from being linked with Ramsdale.

Another report from TEAMtalk last month claimed that Chelsea would consider a move for the Englishman if he became available and that he could cost £60m.

Ramsdale was Arsenal’s No.1, but he has lost his place in Mikel Arteta’s team to David Raya.

Will Chelsea sign Aaron Ramsdale on loan?

Chelsea signing Ramsdale on loan would make little sense. While they may be keeping an eye on his situation at the Emirates, it is probably with the view of signing him permanently.

The Blues will not really benefit by bringing him in on a six-month loan. The England international has proven himself in the Premier League, so there is no real need for Mauricio Pochettino to test him out, and Sanchez is more than good enough to get the team to the end of the season.

Other than his mistake against Ramsdale’s side last month, Sanchez has been pretty solid for Chelsea.

Could Ramsdale be a good signing for Arsenal’s London rivals? Last term, he kept 14 clean sheets in the Premier League — only David de Gea recorded more — so the answer is probably yes.

However, considering all of the above, Chelsea signing him, at least on loan anyway, seems very unlikely. It just does not make sense and probably would not make much difference to their Premier League campaign, which could easily be over by January with the way they have been playing.
