Chelsea and Barcelona both want to improve their attacks this summer.

Chelsea have already signed Marc Guiu from Barcelona to strengthen their forward line, though it looks like he is an addition for the future rather than now.

It has been claimed that Chelsea could loan Guiu to Sevilla ahead of the new season.

The Blues are yet to bring in a winger for the first team but have been linked with a couple of names.

The above includes Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.

Chelsea could have opportunity to sign winger before Barcelona are ready to

Chelsea are thought to be big fans of Adeyemi because of his versatility.

A move for him looks more likely than one for Williams.

While Chelsea have targeted Williams for a summer move, things have gone quiet recently.

However, that does not make the task of signing him a straightforward one for Barcelona.

According to journalist Miguel Delaney, while Barcelona want to pair Williams up with Lamine Yamal, they need to sell first.

It gives Chelsea an opportunity to strike before the Catalan club have the chance to. Whoever signs the 21-year-old this summer will likely have to end up paying £49m for his signature. As per TEAMtalk, that is what the release clause in his contract is currently set at.

Chelsea still look unlikely to sign Nico Williams ahead of Barcelona

There is certainly a golden opportunity here for Chelsea to sign Williams ahead of Barcelona.

However, it does not look like the Blues are going to take it as they continue to pursue Adeyemi.

While Barcelona may not be able to agree a transfer with Athletic Bilbao now or trigger Williams’ clause, they still seem to be working on bringing the Spain international in.

It has been claimed that Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Williams. So if Chelsea really do want to sign him during this transfer window, now definitely looks like the right time for them to make their move.
