Bayern Munich made shock enquiry for Chelsea outcast during Nicolas Jackson talks

Nicolas Jackson was not the only Chelsea player Bayern Munich were reportedly interested in signing at the end of the summer transfer window.

On deadline day, Jackson joined Bayern on a season-long loan deal, which will become a permanent transfer if certain conditions are met.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf recently talked about Jackson’s deal, expressing his doubts over a permanent transfer. If one does not happen, then he will be set for a return to west London.

The likes of Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi also wanted moves away from Stamford Bridge on deadline day but failed to secure transfers.

Bayern Munich made Raheem Sterling enquiry during Nicolas Jackson negotiations

Sterling left Chelsea on loan last summer and had a disastrous spell at their London rivals Arsenal. Even so, it looks like Bayern were still interested in taking a punt on him.

According to The Telegraph, while in talks with Chelsea over a deal to sign Jackson, the German giants enquired about Sterling.

It did not go further than that, though, and the winger eventually ended up staying at Stamford Bridge.

It is a blow for Sterling, who is now unlikely to play any football until January when the transfer window opens again.

Games will start coming thick and fast soon. Enzo Maresca could easily lose someone like Pedro Neto or Estevao Willian to injury. However, even if that happens, it will probably not change much for Sterling.

Bayern were also linked with Josh Acheampong, but the Blues were never going to sell him after losing Levi Colwill to an ACL injury.

Enzo Maresca’s brutal response to whether Raheem Sterling could play for Chelsea this season

Maresca was asked about the possibility of Sterling and Disasi leaving the infamous bomb squad and being reintegrated into the first team.

Maresca gave The Athletic and other publications a simple response: “No.”

After the transfer window in England closed, Turkey was an option for Sterling, but the former Manchester City and Liverpool star seemed very reluctant to move there.
