Chelsea may be interested in a move to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham this summer, according to reports.

Tammy Abraham, who left Chelsea in 2021 and signed for Roma, has had a very decent spell in Italy. The England forward has 36 goals and 12 assists in 101 appearances.

However, he’s now linked with a potential return to West London.

Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack that Abraham is “being mentioned” by some at Chelsea as a possible option in the transfer market.

He explains that the 25-year-old’s name has been floated about by a couple of unnamed individuals at Stamford Bridge. It’s nothing more than that at this stage, though.

This comes after recent claims from Calciomercato that Roma could be open to selling Abraham this summer for around £40million.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano explained on YouTube earlier this year that Chelsea do have a buy-back clause this summer worth around €80million (£71million) to bring Abraham back to Stamford Bridge.

However, it does sound like he may be available at a much cheaper price.

Chelsea supporters are all very familiar with Abraham, who’s a product of the Blues academy that previously had a decent spell in the first-team set-up.

He scored 30 goals in 82 senior Chelsea appearances, which makes him one of the more prolific forwards the club has had in recent times.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho described Abraham as “extraordinary” earlier this season. But it’s worth pointing out that he’s not been quite as effective this campaign as last year.

We think that Abraham would be a fairly safe signing for the No 9 position.

He wouldn’t be the worst addition given his experience and age, but we would like to see the club be a bit bolder when recruiting the next striker.
