Chelsea are now trying to sign Lyon wonderkid Rayan Cherki – who Kylian Mbappe appears to be a big fan of.
That is according to Simon Phillips on Substack.
So, what has Kylian Mbappe said about Rayan Cherki? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the 19-year-old has now made his way onto the radar of those at Stamford Bridge, although he has been performing to a very high level since his early teenage years.
After Cherki recorded two goals and two assists in one game for Lyon at the age of just 16, Mbappe hopped onto Twitter to tell people “don’t talk to him too much about age, huh” – as if to say the Frenchman was performing well above his years.
French news outlet C-News also described the teenager as the ‘best talent’ to ever emerge from Lyon’s academy.
Make no mistake about it – if Chelsea manage to sign Cherki this summer, he has the potential to become the best addition of the entire Todd Boehly era so far.
The France Under-21 international scored five goals and provided six assists for Lyon in the 2022/23 campaign as he continued to fulfil his potential, and now, a big-money move to Stamford Bridge could happen.
How much Cherki will cost Chelsea
According to But Football Club in France, Lyon want around €50m (£43m) for their best young talent this summer.
That is a reasonable asking price when you take into account the forward’s vast potential, and also the fact he is contracted to the French giants until June 2025.

Of course, that fee could drop if Cherki expresses a desire to leave this summer, as Lyon won’t want to find themselves in a situation where their No.18 only has 12 months left on his contract next year.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea explore a deal for the French prodigy.
