Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that he is expecting Josko Gvardiol to be granted a big move next year.
The 20-year-old is currently continuing to impress, this time on the big stage of the World Cup in Qatar.
He was imperious again in Croatia’s 4-1 victory over Canada, with the 2018 finalists finally picking up their first win of the tournament.
Gvardiol impressed alongside Chelsea player Mateo Kovacic, who finally looked back to full fitness in an imperious display in midfield.
The victory leaves them in a great position to qualify from their group, despite before the tournament many tipping Belgium to top it.
Gvardiol’s strong display was his second of the tournament, making his stats for the competition so far extremely impressive.
Gvardiol tipped for big move
He is yet to be dribbled past at this winter’s World Cup, whilst making five interceptions and three tackles as part of a defence who have only conceded once.
His passing has also gained a lot of attention, with it no doubt being a key ability to a top quality Premier League centre-back.
With an 88% pass accuracy at the tournament so far, he has shown that he has the quality in possession to compete on the highest level.
Romano has claimed that his performances are continuing to show that he is due a big move, despite his young age.
He said: “Big move expected in 2023.”
Chelsea are one of the sides most strongly linked with a move for the 20-year-old, having made a late effort to sign him this summer.
Todd Boehly was unable to get the deal done in the final few days of the window, with them attempting a deal in the region of £75m.
With the quality and assurance Gvardiol is showing on the international stage, the Blues will surely return for the signing in the future.
