Chelsea are closing in on finally adding to Liam Delap and bringing in a new big-name signing as part of the summer transfer market.
The Blues are working towards confirming the signing of Jamie Gittens, a player they have had at the top of their shortlist since before the window began.
Chelsea walked away from Gittens before the first deadline due to them not wanting to be charged extra in order to have him in their squad for the Club World Cup.
However, this did not signal the end of their pursuit for the winger, while they seem to have gone off the idea of signing Mike Maignan who they were also targeting.

Borussia Dortmund eye Jamie Gittens replacement amid Chelsea interest
With reports stating that Chelsea are in talks with Borussia Dortmund out in America, it seems as if the Bundesliga side have resigned to their fate that they are going to lose the winger.
According to journalist Luca Bendoni, the German side have got Bologna attacker Dan Ndoye on their shortlist to replace the Englishman.
He said: “Borussia Dortmund have asked for conditions of a potential Dan Ndoye deal, as he is one of the names shortlisted to replace Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in case/when he leaves the club.
“Napoli are the most concrete team on Ndoye, but multiple clubs are tracking him including BVB in case Napoli don’t push to seal it soon.”
Ndoye is valued at £34m (CaughtOffside), far less than the fee Dortmund are expected to receive for Gittens if Chelsea complete the deal.

Can Jamie Gittens play at the Club World Cup for Chelsea?
After not making the move before the tournament began, the winger was included in Dortmund’s squad to compete at the Club World Cup.
This has not really seen a change in his status though, with his only appearance being a 13 minute cameo up against Thiago Silva’s Fluminese.
After being called up to the squad, FIFA’s rules state he is now cup tied from the competition, and would not be available for the Blues.
This is the same for Estevao Willian, who could be set to line up against his future side if they both win their Round of 16 ties.
