Brentford reportedly made a late attempt in the summer transfer window to try and sign one Chelsea player.
Like always, Chelsea were one of the busiest clubs around during a frantic summer window. The Blues conducted so much business, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
Journalist Graeme Bailey exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle this week that there’s a feeling of uncertainty around Chelsea’s squad after a busy transfer window.

Brentford made late enquiry for Ben Chilwell
According to The Mirror, Chelsea were looking for permanent buyers for Ben Chilwell in the summer window.
The Blues were unable to get the 27-year-old defender out the exit doors, but they’re still open to loaning him out to clubs whose transfer window remains open.
It is explained that Premier League side Brentford made a ‘late enquiry’ to sign Chilwell. However, Thomas Frank’s team never followed up their interest.
TEAMtalk recently claimed that Fenerbahce could make a fresh move to sign Chilwell this weekend. The left-back’s been frozen out of the picture at Stamford Bridge by Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, so a transfer to Turkey would at least give him first-team minutes.
Chelsea left-backs
We’ve become used to seeing Chilwell as Chelsea’s main left-back in the last few years, but the Champions League winner is no longer in the picture. Hopefully, the £50m man (Sky Sports) gets a last-minute move this month so he can go and play football in some capacity.
The Blues are moving forward with Marc Cucurella as their main left-back. In fairness, he’s had an incredible resurgence of form in 2024, performing well for both Chelsea and the Spanish national team.
Meanwhile, summer signing Renato Veiga has stepped into the role as full-back cover.
If the Blues need even more cover, Levi Colwill has shown in the past he can fill into that role. Ideally, we only want to see him shining in the centre-back position, though.
