Chelsea’s player could reportedly still be offered a route out of Stamford Bridge this month.

The summer transfer window closed in the Premier League last week, along with most other top divisions, but it’s still open in a few countries.

Chelsea managed to offload plenty of individuals during the summer, both on loan and permanently. There’s still some people hanging around the club after being exiled from the first-team squad, though.

Chelsea’s loan group, which has been forced to train away from the senior team, has included some high-profile names. However, the likes of Raheem Sterling (loan to Arsenal) and Romelu Lukaku (sale to Napoli) have secured summer exits.

Fenerbahce set for Ben Chilwell talks

According to TEAMtalk, Turkish club Fenerbahce have recently shown interest in signing Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell.

Fenerbahce, who are managed by Jose Mourinho, have until 13 September to wrap up their deals because that’s when the transfer window shuts in Turkey.

It is understood that Fenerbahce have already been in contact with Chelsea to express a desire to sign Chilwell on loan. In fact, he sits at the top of their list as a transfer target.

The report explains that the Super Lig club are expected to make a fresh move for the 27-year-old Blues left-back this weekend, with all parties set to discuss the terms of a potential deal. For Chilwell, he’d ideally not leave the Premier League, but he’s stuck on the sidelines at Stamford Bridge if he doesn’t move elsewhere this month.

He should take the move

Even if it’s just a short-term loan, Chilwell should seriously consider a switch to Fenerbahce to go and play football for the rest of 2024. It’s pretty obvious that his pathway under Enzo Maresca is blocked.

Speaking via The Evening Standard earlier this year, Noni Madueke hailed Chelsea teammate Chilwell as “outstanding” after one particular display.

If Chilwell can get himself fit and regain his best form, we’re confident he can force his way back into the England squad by 2025.
