Champions League manager is a huge fan of £45m Chelsea player as club weighs up move, they share the same agent

Chelsea’s first-team player is reportedly attracting interest from a Champions League club this month.

It’s a tough job for head coach Enzo Maresca keeping everyone in the Chelsea squad happy because there’s a lot of big names not starting on a regular basis, so it’s no surprise that several stars are linked with transfer exits.

For example, several clubs are interested in Blues defender Axel Disasi this month. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are negotiating to try sign Christopher Nkunku.

There’s now fresh claims in the transfer rumour mill that suggest another senior individual is attracting interest in January.

AC Milan weigh up move for Chelsea attacker Joao Felix

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian giants AC Milan are evaluating Chelsea’s Joao Felix as a potential transfer option this month.

It is explained that Milan has hit a standstill in their pursuit to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford in January.

The report says that the Serie A giants are now looking at Chelsea attacker Felix, 25, as an alternative in this window. Apparently, the Blues are thinking of letting the Portugal international leave, but a loan exit is considered more realistic than an outright sale as the end of the window is approaching.

In addition, Milan manager Sergio Conceicao is reportedly a massive fan of Felix. It’s very interesting that Jorge Mendes is the agent of both men, too.

Felix, who joined Chelsea last summer in a £45m deal (BBC), can’t seem to force his way into the best XI at Stamford Bridge. He’s scored seven goals in 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season, but he’s only started three games in the Premier League.

It’ll be interesting to see if he’s tempted by the dazzling lights of the San Siro if Milan decides to step up their interest. They’re currently seventh in the Serie A table, plus they’re competing in this season’s Champions League.

Maresca should be using Felix more in the Chelsea team, especially after his lively cameo off the bench in the midweek 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. It’s hard for the versatile attacker to break into the starting line-up, though.

Could Joao Felix replicate Christian Pulisic success?

First and foremost, we’d like to see Felix stay at Chelsea despite rumours of a potential exit. If he gets the chances in the second half of the season, he’s got the ability to massively help Maresca’s side in the forward areas.

However, we do think he’d do well for Conceicao’s Milan side in the Italian league.

Christian Pulisic, who was on Chelsea’s books from 2019-2023, left the Blues to join the Rossoneri. So far, the American forward has been a success with Milan, scoring 25 goals and creating 18 assists in 74 appearances.

Pulisic used to feel under so much pressure at Chelsea, but the 26-year-old has really kicked on since a move to the Serie A.

While we’d expect creative playmaker Felix to thrive in Milan’s team, it would be a massive shame to see him leave Chelsea after less than six months.
