There’s reportedly already work going on behind the scenes at Chelsea to get their player a move away from Stamford Bridge in the New Year.

A positive feeling is growing around Chelsea in the opening months of the season, which largely comes from the club’s results on the pitch. In particular, Enzo Maresca deserves major credit for how smoothly he’s taken the reigns as the club’s manager.

The Blues head coach is tasked with keeping a squad filled with high-profile footballers happy at the same time. So far, he’s shuffled his pack intelligently and his style of football is showing on the pitch.

Unfortunately, there’s still some players that aren’t getting the game time this campaign that they surely desire.

For example, Carney Chukwuemeka, 20, has only made one appearance this season. Chelsea fans are desperate for Chukwuemeka to start against Gent when they host the Belgian club on Thursday night, though.

Chelsea working on Carney Chukwuemeka future

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, there’s work in progress to get Chelsea’s Chukwuemeka a transfer move in January.

It is explained that the Blues will look to find a solution for the 20-year-old midfielder in the next window because he’s playing such little football with them.

Apparently, Chelsea rejected many approaches in the summer because they feared the Englishman would join a club and not play regularly. Instead, he’s now stuck in that exact position at the Bridge.

Our wish is for Chukwuemeka to be shipped out on loan in the second half of the season if he continues to be barely used. Let’s remember this is a player that Todd Boehly called “one of the most exciting young players in Europe” a couple of years ago via Chelsea’s official website.

He should get Conference League run

We’d love to see Chukwuemeka get a string of games in this year’s Conference League tournament, which is a great opportunity for Maresca to rotate and use his deep squad.

The creative midfielder definitely has the tools to make a great impact in the Chelsea XI, whether that’s as a box-to-box No.8 or an advanced No.10.

It’s bizarre to us that he’s been pretty much frozen out and pushed to the bottom of the pecking order this campaign because he’s got so much raw talent. If he can get some more minutes, we’re confident he can change Maresca’s mind.
