Fabrizio Romano suggests Chelsea may find it very difficult to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia in the January transfer window.
Lavia, 18, is an exciting youngster that Southampton signed from Manchester City in the summer.
The teenage midfielder quickly forced his way into the Saints XI at St Mary’s during his first taste of Premier League football, albeit a hamstring injury has interrupted his campaign.
According to the Evening Standard in October, Chelsea have shortlisted Southampton’s 18-year-old talent as a potential target.
There’s now been a fresh update from well-respected transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, too.

Difficult to sign Lavia in January
According to Romano, Chelsea won’t find it easy if they try to sign Lavia in the upcoming transfer window. Instead, a summer raid is more likely.
“So now to bring in also Roméo Lavia from the same club could be something not so easy,” he told GIVEMESPORT.
“So, my expectation is that in January is not going to be an easy one [for Chelsea] for Roméo Lavia, maybe in the summer.”

Chelsea reportedly failed with a £50million attempt to sign Lavia during last summer’s deadline day, so it’s no surprise to hear the player linked again.
Described as “extremely talented” by Ralph Hasenhuttl, Lavia has so much potential based on how quickly he’s adjusted to top-flight football
The Belgian teenager is an energetic defensive midfielder with a lot of great attributes, something the Blues may need if they lose the likes of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho this summer when their contracts expire.
In our view, Chelsea would be wise to watch him during the second half of the season before making a final call.
