Chelsea are pushing for AC Milan to bring in their £20m player this summer

Chelsea would reportedly prefer for their player to join Italian giants AC Milan rather than their London neighbours.

The Blues have signed several new stars in this summer transfer window, but that’s been met with numerous exits as well. They’ve been prepared to conduct business with Premier League rivals, too.

Enzo Maresca’s side have sold Ian Maatsen to Aston Villa in this window. Meanwhile, Lewis Hall has gone to Newcastle United, and Omari Hutchinson has left to join Ipswich Town.

Now, journalist Ben Jacobs has told the London Is Blue podcast that Aston Villa are interested in Raheem Sterling.

Carney Chukwuemeka’s future is uncertain

Respected journalist Simon Phillips has reported via his Substack on Thursday that the future of Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka ‘remains up in the air’.

It is explained that the 20-year-old would accept it if the Blues decided to sell him, and he is quite keen on joining Premier League and London rivals Crystal Palace amid interest from them.

Apparently, Serie A giants AC Milan are also interested in Chukwuemeka and that’s the deal Chelsea have been angling him more towards. The attacking midfielder would prefer to stay in the English capital, though.

Phillips adds that sources believe Chukwuemeka’s exit will still happen in this summer window, but it’s unclear on if that’ll be a permanent or loan departure. Even if he’s involved in Chelsea’s Conference League tie against Servette on Thursday night, his future is still one to watch.

Is there room for Carney Chukwuemeka?

While Chukwuemeka is linked with a possible exit this month, it’s worth weighing up if there’s room for him in the squad. We’d probably argue that it’s worth keeping the Englishman in the first-team group this season.

Chelsea have Romeo Lavia, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as their main central midfielders. On top of that, there’s a number of versatile attackers in the squad that can easily drop into a central advanced midfielder.

When you consider that the Blues will have a huge fixture load if they go far in domestic and European competitions, Chukwuemeka could still get some decent minutes if he ends up staying.

The £20m playmaker (Sky Sports) is definitely coming to a stage where he’ll want to be playing regular senior minutes, though.
