Chelsea are wary of Romelu Lukaku causing conflict at Cobham, and Mauricio Pochettino has now made a decision to avoid any problems occurring.

That is according to the Telegraph.

So, what have Chelsea decided to do with Romelu Lukaku? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 30-year-old was granted an extended holiday due to his international commitments with Belgium, as he was required to play in UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers after the 2022/23 campaign ended.

Lukaku was told to return to Chelsea for pre-season by Wednesday, although he has no intention of doing that as he waits for a permanent move to Inter Milan.

Now – according to the Telegraph – Chelsea have pushed that date back in order to avoid any incidents with the Belgian at Cobham.

Pochettino has chosen to extend Lukaku’s return date to Monday to give Inter Milan more time to submit an acceptable bid, which will then hopefully see the striker fly straight to Italy, where he will begin pre-season training with Simone Inzaghi’s side.

Inter Milan need to get serious if Pochettino is to avoid Lukaku encounter

By the sounds of it, Inter Milan are beginning to annoy Chelsea with their bids for Lukaku.

The Evening Standard believe Chelsea walked away from talks with the UEFA Champions League finalists over the weekend after yet another low offer – according to the Daily Mail, it was worth £23m.

Chelsea are demanding £40m for Lukaku, so if Inter Milan’s next bid is not substantially higher, it feels unlikely that a move will be finalised before Monday.

According to the Telegraph, Inter Milan’s next offer will be worth £35m including bonuses, which would still be £5m short of Chelsea’s demands.

If Pochettino is to avoid that awkward encounter with the Belgium international, Inter Milan need to get serious and respect Chelsea’s asking price.
