Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe is waiting for a new contract proposal from the French club despite reported interest from Chelsea.
An earlier report from Sky Sports claimed that the 26-year-old is part of Chelsea’s summer shortlist of defensive options and is Thomas Tuchel’s preferred target.
The Chelsea manager worked with Kimpembe for two seasons in Paris, so the reported interest is hardly a surprise.
Pursuing the France international, however, was never going to be an easy task.
Kimpembe is still under contract with PSG until 2024, so the club is under no pressure to sell this summer.
In addition to that, The Ligue 1 champions also do not seem to be facing any financial problems despite Kylian Mbappe’s lucrative extension deal.
Kimpembe’s recent comments further suggest a reunion with Tuchel in west London is very unlikely.

“Everyone knows the love I have for PSG. And it’s mutual,” the defender told the media during international duty with France (via RMC Sport).
“I’ll be 27 in August, it’s a key moment in my career.
“I’m waiting to meet the future sports management regarding the club’s project.
“We will have to discuss fairly quickly.”
Obviously, Chelsea can shift their attention to other reported targets, such as Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol.
The former’s move to Stamford Bridge was recently described as “a matter of time” by reports in Spain, while Leipzig reportedly expect the Blues to make a bid for Gvardiol.
