Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe this summer.

According to Sky Sports, the Blues have put the PSG star on a shortlist of centre-back targets.

The report adds Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel considers him a first choice target to strengthen his defence going into next season.

Kimpembe, who earns £164,000-a-week, could be offered the chance to play under ex-PSG boss Tuchel again.

He’s a left-footed centre-half that made 80 appearances under the German coach.

Chelsea interested in Kimpembe

Kimpembe is a talented French defender that’s a key player for Ligue 1 champions PSG, making 41 appearances across all competitions in the 2021/22 season.

With Chelsea in need of recruits in the heart of defence, PSG’s 26-year-old powerhouse looks an exciting option.

It’s been reported Chelsea will try make Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde their first signing of the Todd Boehly era, though.

Tuchel’s backline does look like it needs at least two new faces going into the new campaign, so fans should be hoping to land both Kounde and Kimpembe in this summer’s window. Incidentally, the French duo highlight the ridiculous pool of talent available to World Cup champions France right now.

PSG reunion

As well as reuniting with Tuchel, Kimpembe would get to play alongside Thiago Silva again if he ended up moving to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are still going to rely on 37-year-old defender Silva moving into the new season, who will be a key mentor to any new defenders joining the club.

Everything may be a little smoother if a familiar face in Kimpembe signs.
