Chelsea come to final decision on Tosin Adarabioyo after interest from West Ham and Crystal Palace

Chelsea’s decision to sign Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer last summer proved to be a masterstroke.

Tosin Adarabioyo, 27, enjoyed a really positive debut season with the Blues last year. The central defender played a crucial role in the Chelsea squad to help them win two trophies, the Club World Cup and Conference League, scoring five goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

It’s a credit to the towering centre-half that he steps in and out of Enzo Maresca’s starting XI with such ease, turning in consistent performances whenever called upon.

Chelsea’s recruitment team felt Tosin would suit them, and it’s fair to say he’s been such a shrewd addition to the squad with his experience and quality.

Chelsea won’t sell Tosin Adarabioyo this summer

According to The Sun, Chelsea consider Tosin not for sale this summer after an excellent first year with the club.

It is explained that the 27-year-old is receiving interest from Premier League rivals West Ham and Crystal Palace in recent weeks, but there is no intention from the Blues to let him leave. Incidentally, he’s still under contract with the club for another three years.

The report adds that Chelsea view Tosin as a ‘key member’ of the group going into the 2025/26 season.

There have been contrasting reports recently that suggest Chelsea could cash in on Tosin for £30m because his sale would be pure profit. However, suggestions that the defender is firmly in the club’s plans will reassure supporters.

Chelsea don’t need to sign another centre-half

Unless a world-class central defender becomes available for Chelsea, you could argue they could go into next season content with their current options in the heart of defence.

Levi Colwill looks pretty nailed in the best XI as the left-sided centre-back, with Benoit Badiashile a useful understudy. As for the right-sided centre-half, Tosin and Trevoh Chalobah competed superbly well for that position in the second half of last season.

Wesley Fofana is a forgotten man of the Blues squad, too. If the French centre-back can overcome his horrid record with injuries, he can push hard to get into Maresca’s starting line-up. Fofana is one of Maresca’s favourite players, but it means very little until he can stay fit for an extended period.
