Journalist Simon Phillips has told GiveMeSport that Chelsea are concerned about Noni Madueke’s injury history.

The Blues have been strongly linked with a deal to sign the winger this month, as they look to further strengthen their ranks this month.

There have been more investments towards the future, with the additions of Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana being completed.

There has been the signing of Benoit Badiashile too at the back. The Frenchman impressed manager Graham Potter on his debut for the club against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Chelsea have also already added to their ranks in attack with the loan addition of Joao Felix, before the big money move to sign Mykhalo Mudryk.

With the Ukranian being a winger, there were questions over whether there would still be interest in strengthening in the wide areas.

However, Phillips has claimed that the Blues have still been in contact with Madueke’s agent regarding a potential deal.

He said: “I was told that Chelsea are in talks with his agent as well to try and sign him.

“But he has a bad injury history, and obviously, this is something that Chelsea are concerned about. So, I don’t really know what stage those talks are at right now.”

It is not just Madueke that has been linked with a move to Chelsea as a potential boost to their attacking options.

The Blues are reportedly on the hunt for a striker, and are in talks to bring in Frenchman Marcus Thuram. His contract with Borussia Monchengladbach is set to expire at the end of the season.

They will also have to think about the upcoming addition of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, who is set to join the club at the end of the season.
