Chelsea could now miss out on signing £50m winger because of his representatives

Chelsea could have to convince one player’s representatives in order to sign him next year.

Right now, Chelsea are quite strong in attack and defence. Their forward line has the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer in it, while Levi Colwill and Marc Cucurella are two players playing in defence.

Nevertheless, Chelsea appear to be interested in one footballer who can operate as both a full-back and winger.

It has been claimed, though, that Chelsea do not want to strengthen up front in the January transfer window.

Patrick Dorgu’s representatives want him to remain in Serie A

Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu continues to be linked to some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Juventus and Chelsea.

Juventus could actually turn to Ben Chilwell if they cannot sign Dorgu, who spent most of last season at left-back.

As for Chelsea, according to CaughtOffside, the Blues are also interested in signing the 20-year-old in a potential £50m deal.

However, the same outlet claims that Dorgu’s representatives want him to remain in Serie A for the time being.

How does Patrick Dorgu compare to Noni Madueke?

Dorgu has been playing on the right for Lecce this season, Noni Madueke‘s position at Chelsea.

In total, the Denmark international has made 12 league appearances and scored three goals. Madueke has managed one more than that despite playing one game fewer and less minutes.

Neither player has managed to record an assist this season, but Madueke is completing more dribbles per match than Dorgu.

All in all, Chelsea do not need to bring Dorgu in as a winger. Dorgu does not look like he would be an upgrade on Madueke at this moment in time, while Enzo Maresca also has so many other options for the right-wing position.

The above is not even including Estevao Willian, who is set to officially join Chelsea next year when he turns 18. The Blues could use £50m much better in January or next summer.
