Chelsea could be involved in a last-minute swap deal with one of their Premier League rivals.

Chelsea and Fulham have been in discussions about a potential move for Trevoh Chalobah and the Blues have taken the opportunity to ask about Antonee Robinson, according to CaughtOffside.

The same outlet has now claimed that a swap involving both players could be a possibility before the transfer window closes next week.

Journalist Simon Phillips has also said Robinson to Stamford Bridge is one that should not be ruled out.

The left-back is currently earning £50,000 a week at Craven Cottage (Spotrac).

Chelsea could swap Trevoh Chalobah for Antonee Robinson

Chelsea swapping Chalobah for Robinson makes a lot of sense. The Blues are in good shape, at least on paper, when it comes to the centre-back position.

In his squad, Mauricio Pochettino currently has Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill and Chalobah. The Argentine can probably afford to let one or two names go, though he has obviously had a few injury problems in that department this term.

Nevertheless, Chelsea are much stronger there than they are in the left-back position. Colwill has actually been playing there, while Ben Chilwell has just come back from injury.

Marc Cucurella remains on the sidelines, though, while Ian Maatsen was recently allowed to join Borussia Dortmund on loan. It is why trading Chalobah for Robinson could be a good idea.

If not, then Chelsea will likely have to wait until the summer to sign a new left-back.

Should that be the case, hopefully Pochettino can get by with what he has got. And if he does and Chilwell remains fit and rediscovers his best form again, perhaps Chelsea will not even need to enter the summer market for a new player. It is certainly something to keep an eye on.
