Chelsea are now being tipped with a potential move to sign an attacking playmaker who Mauricio Pochettino once likened to Dele Alli.
There are already a number of talented attackers on the books at Chelsea, so it’s interesting to hear that they may be looking to strengthen the Blues squad in that area.
Of course, Cole Palmer is the club’s chief creator in the No 10 position. Christopher Nkunku has struggled as his understudy this season, while they’ve also got Joao Felix and Carney Chukwuemeka out on loan.
Nkunku is ‘increasingly likely’ to leave Chelsea at the end of the season because he’s struggled to find his best form during two seasons with them. Elsewhere, Felix could be sold once his loan spell with AC Milan finishes. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund want to re-sign Chukwuemeka next season after his loan stint ends with them.
If Nkunku, Felix and Chukwuemeka do all leave in the summer, perhaps Chelsea do need more competition for Palmer in the attacking midfield area.

Chelsea enquire about Malik Tillman
Respected journalist Simon Phillips has reported via his Substack on Wednesday that Chelsea have an interest in signing PSV Eindhoven star Malik Tillman.
Apparently, the Blues have asked for the conditions of any deal to sign the 22-year-old this summer.
Phillips explains that the versatile midfielder has become an option for Chelsea ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Even though the PSV ace has a desire to return to former club Bayern Munich, there’s no indication yet that they want to re-sign him.
Tillman is on Chelsea’s radar after an impressive individual campaign so far for Dutch giants PSV.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Eredivisie | 21 | 9 | 1 |
| Champions League | 6 | 3 | 2 |
| TOTO KNVB Beker | 1 | 1 | 0 |
| Johan Cruyff Shield | 1 | 0 | 1 |
The youngster is an attractive profile because he’s got the versatility to play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder or a left-winger. As mentioned earlier in the season, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca loves versatile players in his squad.

Mauricio Pochettino compared Malik Tillman to Dele Alli
Former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, who’s now manager of the United States team, works alongside Tillman on the international stage.
Speaking in 2024 via ESPN, Pochettino actually compared Tillman to Dele Alli. He said: “The physicality of him (Tillman) is similar to Dele Alli. Malik is an unbelievable talent.”
Even though Alli’s career has gone downhill, the Englishman was once a mega young talent when he was at Tottenham under Pochettino’s guidance.
| Games | Goals | Assists |
| 194 | 55 | 48 |
On paper, Tillman definitely has the type of profile with his physicality and athleticism to cope with the Premier League if he comes to English football. Let’s wait and see if Chelsea decide to ramp up this interest any further in the coming weeks.
