Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly will have to get his wallet out if the Blues want to bring Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala to Stamford Bridge next year.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, speaking to GiveMeSport, it may take a fee of more than £87m to get Jamal Musiala out of the Allianz Arena.

The 20-year-old, who left Chelsea for Bayern in 2019, is being linked with a return to west London.

However, signing him does not look like it is going to be easy.

Jamal Musiala to cost more than £87m

Jacobs says Bayern have no need to sell Musiala yet, so the German will not be cheap.

He told GiveMeSport: “Bayern have no obligation or urgency to sell. They don’t have to worry about it. Next year, what I think they’ll do instead is try to focus on seeing how they can extend that deal.

“But if somebody is to succeed in 2024, I think they’re going to have to put down well in excess of €85million or €90million, maybe even more than €100million, so £87m plus.”

Is Jamal Musiala worth £87m plus?

Probably. Musiala is an extremely talented player who is already delivering at the age of 20.

Last season, the attacking midfielder scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances.

If that is what Musiala is capable of now, imagine what he will be able to in the next few years. Time is on his side; he is only going to develop into a better player.

It is why no one can complain if Bayern demand a huge fee for Musiala, though you suspect that we are nowhere near that point yet.

The German giants will want to extend Musiala’s contract and keep him at the club. His existing deal expires in 2026, so there really is no reason for them to start panicking yet. But if he keeps playing the way he has been, speculation will not got away.

We would love for the Germany international to return to Chelsea. He could really improve Mauricio Pochettino’s attack. However, it is not something that we are expecting. A lot needs to happen if the Blues are to re-sign their former academy product.
