Chelsea seem to have been chasing Morgan Rogers forever, but it now looks as if some supporters are changing their minds.
Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Aston Villa’s breakout star Morgan Rogers once again this summer, as Xabi Alonso hunts for proven attacking talent.
Currently representing England at the 2026 World Cup after securing Europa League Player of the Season honors, any potential deal may have to wait until the Three Lions exit the competition.
However, Chelsea faces a fiercely competitive situation. Premier League champions Arsenal are actively leading the race for his signature, with the midfielder supposedly favouring a move there.
The £130 million price tag is another talking point, as that seems unlikely unless Enzo Fernandez was to leave for a similar price.
Who will be a bigger success – Enzo Maresca or Xabi Alonso? 🤔
City have confirmed Maresca will replace Guardiola.
Chelsea fans like the look of Julio Enciso
Julio Enciso was on target for Paraguay as they knocked out Germany in their Round of 32 clash at the 2026 World Cup last night.
And despite coming off with an injury in the second half, many Chelsea fans are suggesting that he would be a much more cost-effective option than Morgan Rogers this summer.
This fan kicked it all off.
‘I’d rather bring the underrated Julio Enciso from Strasbourg for £20m, give him a chance and see how it goes.’
Another also raised the price as a deciding factor.
‘I’d prefer Enciso over Rogers. Rogers is decent, but the price tag, while Enciso is a similar profile to Rogers and he’s EPL proven as well.’
One fan pointed at Enciso’s impressive season at Strasbourg.
‘He had a fair season, has a wicked shooting technique and has a bit of both European and PL experience. He is seriously underrated.’
This Chelsea fan even suggested that Rogers is overrated.
‘Ensiso, for me, is the better option. He’s very productive, just like Rogers. But Rogers has bigger media hype about him and he’s English.’

Julio Enciso’s season to date
Julio Enciso enjoyed a highly productive debut campaign at Strasbourg following his £17 million permanent transfer from Brighton. Working under Liam Rosenior and subsequently Gary O’Neil, the 22-year-old quickly became one of the main men.
Enciso racked up 27 league appearances, registering three goals and six assists, including three assists in one match against AS Monaco to close out the domestic season.
And now representing Paraguay, Enciso solidified his status by netting a historic header against Germany in the round of 32, becoming the first Paraguayan to ever score in a World Cup knockout match.
