Chelsea fear £50m player’s value could drop, it’s why they’re ready to sell

Chelsea believe it could be best for one of their fringe players to leave the club before the transfer window closes.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert has told GiveMeSport that there is a possibility of Armando Broja departing Chelsea this month, with the club feeling that his lack of game time is not helping the player or his value.

The 22-year-old has made just six starts in the Premier League this season, scoring one goal.

Last week, The Telegraph claimed that Chelsea value Broja around the £50m mark.

Chelsea worried about Armando Broja’s value

Romano has suggested that Chelsea are wary of Broja’s value decreasing as he continues to be left out of Mauricio Pochettino‘s starting XI.

On the Albania international potentially leaving Stamford Bridge this month, the Italian journalist said: “Yes, it’s a possibility. We have to see what kind of proposals Chelsea will receive in these final days of the transfer window but it’s a possibility for Broja to leave.

“Also because Chelsea understand that for Broja basically not to play regularly is not the best solution for all parties involved, for the value of the player in Chelsea’s case, but also for the player himself.”

Now is not a good time to cash in on Armando Broja

Even if Chelsea feel that this transfer window is the best chance of the club receiving a big-money offer for Broja, it does not mean that they should go out and sell him.

With Nicolas Jackson away at the Africa Cup of Nations and Christopher Nkunku picking up more than one injury early into his Chelsea career, selling Broja now may not be wise. Pochettino needs bodies.

To be fair, the club could always look to replace Broja with someone else, such as Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, whom they are currently being linked with. Right now, though, nothing looks to be off the table.
