Chelsea fully expect to receive a bid from Tottenham today for Conor Gallagher.

That is according to a report from The Telegraph.

They claim that Spurs have liked Conor Gallagher, 23, throughout most of the summer transfer window.

It is understood that Spurs have held off moving for the England international until the last minute, but the expectation at Chelsea is there will be a proposal incoming from them on Friday’s deadline day.

The report adds that the Blues would need to receive an offer worth at least £45million to make them consider selling the midfielder. This comes after they turned down a £40million offer from West Ham earlier in the window.

Gallagher’s started all four games this season for Chelsea, proving he’s clearly someone rated by Mauricio Pochettino. In fact, the Blues head coach even gave him the captain’s armband in this week’s Carabao Cup victory against AFC Wimbledon.

However, will the club cash in on another academy graduate if Spurs submit a huge bid at the eleventh hour of the transfer window?

The Daily Mail reported last week that some members of Chelsea’s staff are desperate for the club not to sell Gallagher this summer.

There’s certainly been a turnaround in his performances since Pochettino walked through the door, but is it enough for him to stay?

It’s worth pointing out the competition for places in midfield will crank up another notch once Romeo Lavia is fit.

Described as “fantastic” by Graham Potter, as quoted by Football.London, Gallagher is proving he may be worth sticking with.
