Chelsea have been ‘watching’ twin prospects at Championship club and they’re ‘interested’ in signing both

Chelsea’s recruitment policy in the last couple of years has been to mostly sign young stars for the future, and it doesn’t look like that’s about to change because they’re now monitoring a pair of teenage twins.

The obvious strategy in the transfer market under the current Chelsea owners has been to recruit youngsters with huge potential.

While it’s great that so many rising stars have arrived at Stamford Bridge, first-team head coach Enzo Maresca has been left with a Blues squad that’s definitely lacking experience.

Speaking last year, Gary Cahill urged Chelsea to add more experience and know-how to the group. It’s quite telling that no outfield player is over 27 years of age in the current squad, though.

Chelsea have been watching teenage twin prospects

The Chelsea scouting network has now led them to the path of two teenage English prospects, who are both yet to make their first-team debuts.

Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that Chelsea have their sights set on Middlesbrough’s 16-year-old twins Bailey and Anton Palmer.

He said: “Chelsea are interested in Middlesbrough’s teenage twin prospects Bailey and Anton Palmer.

“The 16-year-olds, both midfielders, are emerging as two of the top prospects within the Teesside club’s highly acclaimed academy.”

The Chelsea Chronicle understands Chelsea have been watching the pair and are looking at the prospect of landing the duo.

Bailey Palmer has featured on the bench for Middlesbrough’s first team three times already in 2025, including in a couple of Championship matches. The attacking midfielder is still waiting to get on the pitch to make his senior debut, though.

He was recently named in England’s Under-17s squad for two upcoming games against the Netherlands.

As for his twin Anton Palmer, he’s been performing for Boro’s Under-18s team this season. However, the central midfielder is yet to make a matchday squad with the senior team.

Back in 2024, the Palmer twins both signed deals with huge brand Adidas, confirmed via Instagram. It’ll be interesting to see if the young prospects can develop into high-profile footballers in the same team.

Watch out for Kiano Dyer

Even though the club continues to search further afield for young signings, the Chelsea academy shouldn’t be overlooked because it keeps producing super talents every year.

Blues prospect Kiano Dyer, 18, is someone we think could have a big future ahead of him. We’d be amazed if the central midfielder doesn’t add to his one first-team appearance for Chelsea so far.

Chelsea fans have been amazed by Dyer’s performances for the Under-21s, where he often looks a level above with his technical qualities on the ball.

If the club wants to find natural cover for Romeo Lavia in the centre of the park, he may be someone to consider promoting.

Hopefully, the pathway from the academy to the senior squad remains firmly open at Chelsea.
