Chelsea have decided to distance themselves from signing Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.

That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

The future of Jadon Sancho, 23, is a big talking point in the football media because of his exile from the Man United first team this season under Dutch manager Erik ten Hag.

We heard from The Athletic earlier this week that some football insiders believe that Chelsea could be a possible next destination for £65million-rated English star Sancho.

However, there’s now contrasting reports that suggest the winger won’t end up at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea not in the race

Simon Phillips reported via his Substack yesterday that Chelsea have stepped back from any interest in signing Sancho.

Instead, Italian giants Juventus are interested buyers in the 23-year-old attacker.

Phillips wrote: “I am now told that we have distanced ourselves from Sancho as of now, and I am actually hearing that Juventus are showing a keen interest in signing the Manchester United winger.”

It sounds like the Blues won’t be raiding Man United for their wantaway individual.

Jadon Sancho not needed

Sancho was a phenomenon when he was starring in Germany as a youngster for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 50 goals and making 64 assists in just 137 appearances for them across all competitions.

Unfortunately, he’s not enjoyed anywhere near the same kind of success in Man United colours since his move to Old Trafford back in the summer transfer window of 2021.

He’s now completely frozen out in Manchester and tipped for a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Chelsea’s current system under Mauricio Pochettino does accommodate for traditional wingers to play and express themselves. We wouldn’t like to see the Blues take a massive gamble on Sancho in any of the upcoming transfer windows, though.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke are Chelsea stars all battling it out for starting positions in attack. It’s refreshing to see these wide players that make defenders very uncomfortable and want to dribble 1v1.
