Chelsea have now made contact about signing Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.

That is according to a report from The Daily Mail.

Most of Chelsea’s transfer speculation this summer regarding the signing of a new midfielder has revolved around Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, but a new option is starting to emerge for the Blues in the centre of the park.

Tyler Adams, who’s just 24, is starting to receive several links to Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mail reports on Wednesday that Chelsea are among the clubs to now ask about Leeds star Adams.

It is explained that Chelsea, along with Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and West Ham, have all asked the question about the defensive midfielder’s availability.

The report says that the United States international has a £25million release clause in his deal at Elland Road, with Villa among the clubs that are willing to activate it.

In addition, Chelsea still consider Brighton’s Caicedo and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia as their main midfield targets in this window. They view the Leeds enforcer as someone that may be great value for money at £25m, though.

The Times claimed earlier this week that Chelsea have Adams on their midfield shortlist this summer.

Now, it turns out Mauricio Pochettino’s side have made some initial contact.

Described as “special” by Jesse Marsch on the Men In Blazers YouTube channel, Adams managed to impress last season in a Leeds side that did end up suffering relegation from the Premier League.

He’s a tenacious midfielder with great stamina, leadership and quality. In our view, he could add real depth to the Chelsea squad for just £25m, but it sounds like the race for his signature will be a tough one.
