Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic is one striker who is currently under consideration at Chelsea.

Chelsea can now bring in a new centre-forward with the transfer window open, and journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack that a source has informed him that Dusan Vlahovic is a name the Blues have “discussed internally”.

According to Phillips, the club have also been watching the 23-year-old this season.

This is not the first time there has been speculation about Vlahovic and Chelsea.

Vlahovic was heavily linked with a summer move to Stamford Bridge last year, but nothing materialised in the end.

Chelsea discussing Dusan Vlahovic

It makes sense that Chelsea are considering Vlahovic. The Serbian has had some injuries recently, but he has shown that he can score goals.

For example, back in the 2021/22 season, Vlahovic netted 24 times in 36 Serie A appearances, which is a good return.

His form in the first half of that campaign helped him to earn a £66.6m move from Fiorentina to Juventus (Sky Sports).

Should Vlahovic be Chelsea’s first-choice target? With the likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who has already proven himself in the Premier League, around, perhaps not.

However, it does not look like they are available this month or at least for a reasonable price, so the Blues may have to start considering other options if Mauricio Pochettino cannot wait until the end of the campaign.

That may be the best course of action, especially if there is a chance of Osimhen being on the market then. But if Pochettino and the club want a new striker now, then Vlahovic should be a serious candidate.

Honestly, with their Premier League campaign practically over, Chelsea can probably afford to wait until the summer to strengthen up front, but Pochettino may think otherwise.
