Chelsea could strengthen their attack during this transfer window after links with a left winger.

Currently, Enzo Maresca has Jadon Sancho and Mykhailo Mudryk for that position, while Tyrique George is also an option for the 44-year-old.

George dazzled in Chelsea’s 5-0 win against Morecambe over the weekend, showing his manager what he is capable of.

However, while the Chelsea youngster and Sancho are available for Maresca right now, Mudryk is not following his suspension. It means the club could dip into the transfer market for a new left winger this month.

Chelsea interested in signing Yeremay Hernandez from Deportivo La Coruna

The wide man Chelsea could turn to before the transfer window closes at the start of February is Deportivo La Coruna’s Yeremay Hernandez.

According to L’Equipe, Chelsea are keen on Hernandez and have held discussions about signing the 22-year-old, who has a €20m (£16.8m) release clause in his contract.

He has been in great form for Deportivo La Coruna in the second division of Spanish football this season.

In 18 league appearances, the Spaniard has scored eight goals and provided three assists. Chelsea had also been linked with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Kvaratskhelia is closing in on a move to PSG.

Could Yeremay Hernandez join Strasbourg on loan?

While Chelsea’s squad may require another left winger, the possibility of the Blues signing Hernandez and loaning him to Strasbourg cannot be ruled out.

L’Equipe’s report states that Chelsea have discussed the above, with Liam Rosenior being interested in the player’s profile. However, they would have to recall one of their players who is already on loan at their sister club.

Chelsea or Strasbourg could be about to get a really good dribbler as BlueCo weigh up signing Hernandez.

Over the last year, Hernandez has been completing 4.45 dribbles per 90 minutes, according to FBref. Even for a winger, that is an extremely high number.

Considering that, Hernandez could be an exciting addition to the Chelsea ranks, though his lack of experience at the elite level may concern some supporters.
