Chelsea have found it difficult to drum up interest in Ben Chilwell this summer, largely because of the defender’s wages.

It is thought that Chilwell is currently on a £200,000-a-week contract at Stamford Bridge.

At one stage, it was claimed that Chelsea were contemplating tearing up Chilwell’s deal. However, they may have finally found a club for their outcast.

The left-back spent the second half of last season out on loan at Crystal Palace, but the Eagles have shown no interest in signing him permanently since then.

Chelsea have decided to sell Ben Chilwell to Strasbourg

Both being owned by BlueCo, unsurprisingly, Chelsea have done a lot of business with Strasbourg during this transfer window.

For example, they have sent the likes of Kendry Paez and Mike Penders to their sister club on loan and could now be about to send Chilwell there.

According to journalist Bobby Vincent, Chelsea’s plan is to sell Chilwell to Strasbourg before the end of the transfer window.

The England international is not the only defender who could leave west London on deadline day. Chelsea are also trying to offload Axel Disasi in these final hours of the window.

West Ham United are interested in Disasi, who was previously being linked with Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ben Chilwell was wanted by former Chelsea manager

At Chelsea, Chilwell has worked with a few different managers, including Frank Lampard and Graham Potter.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Lampard was actually eyeing a reunion with Chilwell, whom he signed during his first stint as Chelsea boss.

If the former Leicester City man is to leave Stamford Bridge, though, France now appears to be his most likely destination.

It is in Chilwell’s best interest to make this move happen. He is clearly not rated by Enzo Maresca and has two players in his position: Marc Cucurella and Jorrel Hato.

Ultimately, Chilwell is at risk of not playing until January if he does not leave Chelsea now.
